A train puffed through the Dravinja Valley years ago. It is true that Poljčane is nowadays a well-known railway station, but in 1892 the narrow gauge railway line began to run from Poljčane to Konjice, and from 1921 also to Zreče.
Zreče: A strong timber and coal industry
The narrow gauge railway was created in response to the growing timber and coal industry in Zreče. It connected the valley with the Maribor - Ljubljana line and quickly developed a lively freight and passenger transport. After World War II the transport started decreasing and in 1962 the line was discontinued. Later, after pulling out the tracks almost all traces disappeared about the nostalgic means of transport ... Except for one!
Museum at the only preserved railway station
The only trace of the former narrow gauge railway line of the Dravinja Valley is preserved - the Zreče railway station - which today hosts the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum.

Did you know?
The train was so slow that it rode for more than an hour across the valley. The older locals still remember how being late was not a problem since you could easily catch it and jump on it. Such attractions are hidden at the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum in Zreče.
